The Export Development Act of 1994 mandated the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) to lead the crafting of the plan, to help uplift the country’s exports performance. The PEDP was developed by the Philippine exporting community under the leadership of the Export Development Council, with supervision from the DTI and in collaboration with key national government agencies and the Philippine Exporters Confederation, Inc. (PHILEXPORT).The plan will focus on the four identified export clusters: Industrial Machinery and Transport ; Technology Media and Telecommunications ; Health and Life Sciences  and Modern Basic Needs and Resilient Economy. It outlines three strategic actions to  address production constraints, developing a strong and innovative export ecosystem, and increasing the Philippines’ mindshare in the global market.

The PEDP envisions to establish the Philippines as a leading exporter of high value products and services while leveraging on our superior knowledge and talent to cater to the diverse needs of global consumers. With a target of more than double the current level of Philippine exports to USD 240 billion by 2028.

The PEDP 2023-2028  was launched by President  Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., together with EDC Members, witnessed by both public and private stakeholders during the International Trade Forum last 15 June 2023 at the Shangri-La The Fort, Taguig City. AOB
