EDC welcomes the new BSP Governor and DOH Secretary

EDC welcomes Mr. Eli M. Remolona Jr. as the new Governor of the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) and Council member in place of former Gov. Felipe M. Medalla as the Presidential Communications Office announced his appointment on 23 June 2023.

Gov. Remolona brings his extensive experience in central banking, economic policy, international finance, and financial markets to the agency. Before he was appointed BSP Governor, he was a Professor of Finance and Director of Central Banking at the Asia School of Business in Kuala Lumpur. He taught courses on monetary policy, money and capital markets, and digital transformation. 

He also became a consultant for esteemed institutions such as the Asian Development Bank (ADB), the International Monetary Fund (IMF), and the World Bank, and as a Member of the Monetary Board of the BSP since August 2022.

BSP is vital in the Council, providing sound monetary and fiscal policies supporting export development.

Finally, the long wait is over for the Department of Health (DOH). President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr. appointed  Dr. Teodoro “Ted” Herbosa as the new DOH Secretary last 05 June 2023.

Sec. Herbosa has a wide experience and expertise in healthcare systems, public health, hospital administration, emergency and disaster medicine. He also served as a special adviser of the National Task Force against Covid-19.

As the mother agency of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the DOH is one of the government agencies mandated to implement Programs, Activities, and Projects relevant to the  Philippine Export Development Plan (PEDP), cited under the Memorandum Circular No. 27 and No. 23 accordingly.
