NATIONAL EXPORT CONGRESS 2022 

After two years of Virtual Congress, the Department of Trade and Industry-Export Marketing Bureau (DTI-EMB), Export Development Council (EDC), and Philippine Exporters’ Confederation Inc. (PHILEXPORT) have partnered to organize once again the onsite National Export Congress 2022 (NEC) as the culminating event for this year’s celebration of the National Exporters’ Week. The NEC was held last 07 December 2022 at the Reception Hall, Philippine International Convention Center, Pasay City.

Assistant Director BIANCA PEARL R. SYKIMTE, DTI-EMB Officer-in-Charge and Acting EDC Executive Director, shared in her Opening Remarks a glimpse of the Congress’ discussions, centering on how we, as a country, can harness the exporters’ collective experiences, expertise, knowledge, and the entire exporting community for the Philippines to achieve its exporting breakthroughs. DTI EMB-EDC-PHILEXPORT celebrates  its first-ever Exporter’s Night 2022

The Department of Trade and Industry-Export Marketing Bureau (DTI-EMB), Export Development Council (EDC), and Philippine Exporters’ Confederation Inc. (PHILEXPORT) celebrated the first Exporters’ Night separately from the National Export Congress; as part of the week-long celebration of the National Exporters’ Week 2022 with the theme: “Paving the Way towards Exporting Breakthroughs” on 06 December 2022 at The Grand Ballroom, Marriott Hotel.

PBBM orders boost on PH’s Digital Infrastructure

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. ordered a boost to PH’s Digital Infrastructure, emphasizing digitalization’s relevance in consistently improving the Ease of Doing Business in the Philippines.

Particularly in streamlining the government’s efforts in processing and issuing permits and licenses to accelerate the development of telecommunication and internet infrastructure in the Philippines. More so, to enhance mobile cellular services and free Wi-Fi across and in remote areas of the country.

The Bureau of Customs launched the ACDD Portal

The Bureau of Customs (BOC), led by Customs Commissioner Yogi Filemon Ruiz, formally launched the portal for the electronic exchange of ASEAN Customs Declaration Documents (ACDD) among Association of Southeast Asian Nations members on 6 December 2022 at the F1 Hotel Bonifacio Global City in Taguig City.

Commissioner Ruiz underscores that through the ACDD Management Portal, the Philippines can now electronically exchange the customs declaration document with other ASEAN states, broadening the Philippines’ economic integration and maximizing the potential of intra-ASEAN trade. Launching this landmark digital tool is expected to improve bureaucratic efficiency, strengthen market competition, and reduce barriers to entry and limits to entrepreneurship.

DOF and DICT clarify specific roles in TradeNet

The Department of Finance (DOF) and the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) clarify their specific roles in the TradeNet. The Anti-Red Tape Authority (ARTA) led by Sec. Ernesto V. Perez, together with Undersecretary Dennis P. Villorente of the DICT, Assistant Secretary Dakila Elteen M. Napao and Director Angelica I. PPA separates its regulatory and operational functions through Port Terminal Management Regulatory Framework

Through the Port Terminal Management Regulatory Framework (PTMRF), the Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) implemented the separation of its regulatory and operational functions by privatizing port operations.

PPA has so far privatized 19 ports that are major gateways and is in the process of privatizing more ports.

The measure seeks to separate the regulatory and commercial functions of PPA by converting the agency into a Philippine Ports Corporation (Philports) and transferring its regulatory functions to the Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA).
