The Tree of Life, Nurturing the Future of Philippine Agriculture

Philippine Coconut Authority (PCA) hosted a two-part event at the Philippine International Convention Center held on September 11, 2026 . Central to the program was the Coconut Congress, where industry stakeholders gathered to exchange updates, address challenges, and explore new opportunities within the sector. The congress also highlighted the success of the Coconut Trade Fair, held from August 26 to 30, which generated a record-breaking ₱309.9 million, up significantly from ₱98.72 million in previous figures.

PCA Administrator Dexter Buted has stipulated that it reflects huge potential, absorbing over $1 billion in annual coconut oil exports. To sustain this international expansion, the government is aggressively bolstering raw material supply and farm-level productivity. He indicated that the government is making steady progress toward its 2028 target of planting 100 million high-yield palms, with 25.3 million scheduled for planting this year alone.

Buted also highlighted Mindanao as the country’s central supply pillar, producing over 50% of national output, thanks to its resilience against the harsh climate disruptions felt in Luzon and Visayas. These remarkable returns reflect a highly promising trajectory for the local coconut sector, a milestone made possible through the steadfast support of key government agencies.

Alongside this, the  government is prioritizing higher crop yields and direct livelihood programs for local farmers and their dependents, steering the sector toward its target of $3 billion in annual export revenues by 2026. CRD
