The Philippine Export Development Plan (PEDP) 2023-2028 kicked off its regional rollout with an information session in Cebu City on August 20, 2024, at Cebu Grand Hotel. This session (held in cooperation with DTI Region 7 and Philexport Cebu Chapter) is part of a strategic effort to equip exporters and aspiring exporters with the tools and support needed to thrive in the global market.
Targeting the first of seven key exporting regions, the session covered Region VII (Cebu City) and Region VI-A (Iloilo City, via Zoom). Nearly 150 participants, including exporters, industry leaders, and government representatives, attended the event. It provided a crucial platform for disseminating government programs and services that are directly aligned with the needs of the export sector.
For exporters, the real value of this session lay in the one-on-one “Export Counselling” consultations. Key government agencies such as the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Export Marketing Bureau (EMB), Philippine Trade Training Center (PTTC), Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPOPHL), and others were on hand to offer personalized advice and solutions. This direct access to expert guidance is designed to help exporters navigate challenges and capitalize on new opportunities.
The PEDP sessions are part of the DTI-EMB’s “Usapang Exports,” under the Philippine Export Competitiveness Program (PECP). By participating, exporters can tap into a wealth of resources that will enhance their competitiveness and growth in the international market.
Organized by the Export Development Council (EDC) in collaboration with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and supported by the Philippine Exporters Confederation, Inc. (PHILEXPORT), these sessions represent a significant step in reinforcing government support for the export community.
Upcoming info sessions are planned for Region XI (Davao City) on September 18, 2024, Region X (Cagayan de Oro) on October 2, 2024, and Region XII (General Santos City) on October 4, 2024. Exporters in these regions are encouraged to participate and take advantage of the tailored support being offered.
