The Export Development Act of 1994 provides that it is the “goal and objective” of the “National Government to provide a macroeconomic policy framework which will ensure that (1) Trade tariff and customs policies shall engender competitiveness of domestic industries and facilitate their participation in international trade; and (2) All government agencies whose actions affect exporters…shall simplify procedures to minimize bureaucratical red tape.” Hence, reduced transaction cost for business shall be achieved in support of export process.
The EDC Networking Committee on Trade Policies and Procedures Simplification shall function as mandated by the Export Development Act of 1994 and to make possible the actualization of this general principle.
OBJECTIVES
The Networking Committee on Trade Policies and Procedures Simplification shall recommend trade policies that would strengthen the export industry; simplify systems and procedures pertinent to export to reduce the (a) cost of doing business, ( b) processing time, (c) steps, (d) signatures and optimize the use of Information Technology.
