DTI reconfigures export sectors into Industry Clusters

Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) new Secretary Alfredo E. Pascual presented the DTI’s ten strategic priorities during the second cabinet meeting on 12 July 2022, presided by President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Romualdez Marcos, Jr.

Among the strategic priorities is the reconfiguration of the export sector into industry clusters, with a focus on the following: (1) Industrial, Manufacturing, and Transport (IMT) which encompasses aerospace (aircraft interiors; maintenance, repair, and overhaul), automotive (electric vehicles), semiconductors; (2) Technology, Media, and Telecommunication (TMT), that covers digitalization services, IT-BPM, artificial intelligence and data analytics, cybersecurity, hyper-scale data centers, creative industries; (3) and Health and Life Science (HLS), for biopharmaceuticals, pharmaceuticals, medical devices, and healthcare services.  Continue reading → DTI reconfigures export sectors into Industry Clusters 

CBW Automated Inventory Management System (AIMS) to go live on 18 July 2022

In line with the full implementation of CMO 20-2021 and AOCG Memo No. 199-2022, Assessment and Operations Coordinating Group Deputy Commissioner Edward James Dy Buco issued AOCG Memo 229-2022, directing all Collection districts and offices concerned to the full implementation of the Automated Inventory Management System (AIMS) as it will go live on 18 July 2022.

The customs operations officer shall process the Warehousing Goods Declaration SAD (WAD) accepted in the E2M System. They must ensure that all CBWs are registered in the AIMS. Additionally, the AIMS was created to enhance CBWs and ease the job of paperwork, manual encoding, and sorting, incorrect cargo releases, non-visibility of cargo status for importers, and slow reporting. It is also mandated to generate real-time and accurate information on the status of goods received, stored, and withdrawn from off-dock and off-terminal accredited customs facilities and warehouses. IRIS Paoay shifts US voyage to intra-Asia service

Royal Cargo announces IRIS Paoay’s shift of US voyage to intra-Asia service, calling from the Philippines to Thailand and VietNam.

The IRIS Paoay is the first Philippine-flagged ship to sail directly in 30 years, and it has been catering long-haul exports to the US since its maiden voyage on September 23, 2021.

IRIS Logistics made a valorous effort to go long-haul in response to the call of the exporters at the height of shipping woes brought about by the pandemic. However, the current situation will no longer be feasible for IRIS to go to the US on their 5th voyage as the exports they shipped in the first sailings are still mostly in Los Angeles warehouses and could not be delivered inland due to lack of trucking services and congested rail service. President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos, Jr. (PBBM) vetoed bills institutionalizing the Philippine Transportation Safety Board (PTSB).

The President dismissed the House Bill No. 9030 and Senate Bill No. 1077 – the  bills creating PTSB – as it was deemed to duplicate the functions of the  Department of Transportation (DOTr) as well as the Philippine National Police (PNP) and the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI).
