Final Push for Exports: PEDP 2023-2028 culminates in Angeles City

The Department of Trade and Industry – Export Marketing Bureau (DTI-EMB), the Export Development Council (EDC), and the Philippine Exporters Confederation, Inc. (PHILEXPORT) concluded the final Usapang Exports Information Session on the Philippine Export Development Plan (PEDP) 2023-2028: Cascading Government Programs and Services. The event was held on November 14, 2024, at Best Western Plus Metro Clark, Angeles City, Pampanga.

DTI Region 3 OIC-Assistant Regional Director Dr. Ricky Simangan opened the session with an overview of key export topics. The discussions provided valuable insights for both established and aspiring exporters.

Participants gained knowledge through presentations from key agencies, including:

  • DTI-EMB: Services and Programs; Market Trends and Opportunities for Furniture and Handicrafts
  • DA-Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR): Availing One-Stop Export Documentation Service for Products with Shells and Corals
  • DOST-Food and Nutrition Research Institute (FNRI): Support Programs for Exporters
  • DENR-Forest Management Bureau (FMB): Securing Export Permits for Furniture and Handicrafts
  • DA-Philippine Rural Development Project (PRDP): Upscaling Production Efforts
  • ARISE Plus Philippines Project: Advancing Export Readiness
  • The PHX Source Platform: Connecting Exporters to Global Markets
  • In-Line Forwarder: Market Regulations for Food and Non-Food Products (Furniture and Handicrafts) Through the Logistics Lens

In addition to these presentations, representatives from the Landbank of the Philippines (LBP), the Center for International Trade Expositions and Missions (CITEM), the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), and the Bureau of Customs (BOC) were available for one-on-one consultations and export counseling.

PHILEXPORT Region 3 President Philip B. Repato delivered a closing message of resilience and collaboration. He acknowledged the challenging year for Central Luzon exports, citing factors such as global economic conditions, supply chain disruptions, inflation, and currency fluctuations. Despite these hurdles, Mr. Repato emphasized PHILEXPORT Region 3’s commitment to supporting exporters through services like Export Declaration (ED) processing, Client Profile Registration System (CPRS) issuance, and facilitation of travel tax exemptions and trade funds. These initiatives aim to streamline and simplify exporting processes for PHILEXPORT members and clients.

This closing session marked the successful completion of the Usapang Exports series, underscoring the unified efforts of DTI-EMB, EDC, and PHILEXPORT to empower Philippine exporters.

Looking ahead, the PEDP 2023-2028 will continue to champion sustainability and competitiveness, which will be a central theme at the 2024 National Export Congress from December 2 to 6, 2024.
