The Export Development Council (EDC) conducted a two-day Validation workshop on the Programs, Activities, and Projects (PAPs) submitted by government agencies under Memorandum Circular No. 27 (2017). The objective was to validate and enhance the proposed strategies in line with the PEDP 2023-2028.
Mr. Sergio R. Ortiz-Luis Jr., EDC Vice Chair, PHILEXPORT President and CEO, graced the first day of the workshop, emphasizing the necessity for a united effort from both the public and private sectors to break free from the boom-and-bust export cycle.
The workshop proceeded with breakout sessions divided into four (4) clusters: Industrial, Machinery, and Transport (IMT); Technology, Media, and Telecommunications (TMT); Health and Life Sciences (HLS); and Modern Basic Needs, Resilient Economy (MBNRE). Each cluster worked on refining the initial PAPs they had previously submitted, generating outputs aligned with their specific sector.
Day 2 of the workshop was the presentation of consolidated PAPs to the key industry leaders from the private sector for their insights and feedback on the proposed strategies and initiatives presented by the respective clusters. The overarching purpose of this workshop was to ensure the harmonization of the submitted PAPs among concerned agencies while also assessing their capacity to address the diverse and evolving needs within each cluster effectively. The collaborative effort from the public-private partnership institutionalized by EDC aims to create an agile, more robust, sustainable export development plan for the Philippines.
The Workshop was participated by various government agencies under the Memorandum Circular No. 27 (2017) and key industry leaders, held on October 24 and 27, 2023. This also marked a significant collaborative effort by the Export Development Council (EDC), partnering with the Department of Trade and Industry-Export Marketing Bureau (DTI-EMB) and the Philippine Exporters Confederation, Inc. (PHILEXPORT). PLM
