MSME Guidebook for Disaster Resilience launched!

The Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise (MSME) Guide to Disaster Resilience book was launched to have a better understanding of the basic concepts of disaster risk education and management, and business continuity practices. 

This book serves as a reference material for MSMEs) for future disaster awareness and management. It also includes sample toolkits and exercises which can help MSMEs develop their own emergency preparedness and business continuity plans.

ARISE PH launch Guidebook on Exporting to EU

ARISE Plus Philippines launched the business guidebook aimed to help improve the Philippines’ access to the European Union (EU) market and utilize the EU Generalized Systems of Preferences (EU -GSP+) scheme.

The guidebook provides technical and regulatory requirements to be completed within the Philippines to export to the EU, and measures to meet to cross the EU border.

MIF to drive PH’s Meaningful Economic Transformation

The Maharlika Investment Fund (MIF), was signed into law by President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. to drive PH’s meaningful economic transformation, including boosting infrastructure development, creating high-quality jobs, and pursuing its initiatives to become an investment-friendly nation. This means increasing the capacity and capability to make profitable investments, such as the Build-Better-More program.

Tourism and IT-BPM Industry noted to boost PH economic growth

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. highlighted the Philippines as a Service Export Powerhouse, specifically the Tourism and Information Technology-Business Process Management (IT-BPM) Sectors’ vital roles in boosting the country’s economic growth during his speech in the second State of the Nation Address (SONA) at the Congress last Monday, 24 July 2023. 

Part of the administration’s work is to push the Philippines by making it a “Tourism Powerhouse and an Agile Export Powerhouse” in Southeast Asia, aligning with the two plans, the National Tourism Development Plan (NTDP) 2023-2028 and the Philippine Export Development Plan (PEDP) 2023-2028.

PEDP and PDP aligned to achieve the PH sustainable development goals

Both the PEDP 2023-2028 and PDP were aligned to achieve the PH sustainable development goals, with the former focused on export development as the lynchpin of the economy. 

The two plans working together will serve as the platform for attaining the Sustainable Development Goals in 2030 and the Philippines’ AmBisyon Natin towards a prosperous, inclusive and resilient society by 2040,

PBBM Encourages Public-Private Collaboration for Jobs

President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. (PBBM) welcomes the plan to implement the Private Sector Jobs and Skills Corp (PSJSC) to reform the skills of the Filipino workforce, address jobs, the mismatch of skills, and provide additional employment for the Filipinos. 

In the meeting with the Private Sector Advisory Council-Job Sector Group (PSAC-JSG) on 18 May 2023 at Malacañang, PBBM emphasized the need for the collaboration of the government and private sector to generate more jobs.

The Philippine Exporters Confederation, Inc. (PHILEXPORT) remains to be the leading and dominant export organization recognized by the government, as the Export Development Council (EDC) unanimously approved the renewal of its accreditation during the Joint Council and Executive Committee meeting on 19 May 2023, chaired by Trade Secretary Alfredo E. Pascual and attended by both public and private sector members.

Expansion of PH Trade and Investment expected upon RCEP full implementation by June 2

Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Secretary Alfredo Pascual announced that the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) pact among 15 economies in the Asia Pacific region is to take effect on 02 June 2023. The full implementation of RCEP will help expand the trade and investment to all signatory countries within 20 years, including eliminating tariff rates — or the taxes imposed on imported products — on 90% of goods.
